STREETS & SANITATION

The City of Radford Public Works department is responsible for the maintenance of all city streets and the wastewater/storm water system. Public Works is separated into two divisions with each division superintendent reporting to the Assistant City Manager Mr. David Ridpath. These divisions are as follows:

Streets & Stormwater Management - Superintendent Mr. Jimmy Dean (540-267-3605). Mr Dean supervises a crew of experienced employees who handle the following tasks on city owned property and rights of ways:

  • New street construction
  • Repairs and maintenance
  • Snow removal
  • Traffic control
  • Concrete repairs and replacement
  • New storm water line construction and repair
  • Erosion & Sediment Control inspections
  • State audit information
  • Records
  • Right of way mowing and maintenance

This department also assists the solid waste department, water/wastewater, electric, and vehicle maintenance operations.

Seventeenth Street Recycle Center Hours of Operation:

ALL VEHICLES ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE RADFORD CITY STICKERS

The center does not accept tires, batteries. paint and oil. All vehicles will be required to have City of Radford stickers before unloading debris.

Water & Wastewater Management - Superintendent Mr. David Wikle (540-267-3149). Mr. Wikle supervises a team dedicated to the following tasks on city owned property and rights of ways:

  • Water/wastewater line maintenance
  • New service installations
  • Water/wastewater line repair and replacement
  • Wastewater line blockages
  • Emergency service calls
