Appointed on January 1, 2008, Don Goodman becomes the next Chief for the Radford Department of Police. A 1984 graduate of Radford University, Chief Goodman previously served 23 years with the Town of Blacksburg Police Department as a Police Officer, Detective, Detective Sergeant, Lieutenant, Professional Standards Lieutenant, Detective Lieutenant, and Operations Division Captain. He is a graduate of the 18th session of the Virginia Chief’s Professional Executive Leadership School, and the 218th session of the FBI National Academy.

A resident of the City of Radford since 1984, Chief Goodman’s wife Anne serves the City as the Speech/Language Pathologist at McHarg Elementary School. His daughter attends Radford University and his son attends Radford High School. In his spare time, you may find the Chief fishing in one of our local trout streams, floating down the New River, or cheering on the Radford High School Bobcats.
