Field Services Bureau

The Field Services Bureau of the Radford Department of Police is supervised by Lieutenant Scott Schwarzer.  Lieutenant Schwarzer has been with the Department for 15 years. He is a graduate of New River Community College and is currently attending Liberty University. Lt. Schwarzer also serves as the Commander of the agency's "Emergency Response Team" and is the Fire Investigator for the City of Radford. In addition to his service to the Department, Lt. Schwarzer also instructs police recruits in Emergency Vehicle Operations as the Lead Instructor, Terrorism, and Rapid Deployment at the Cardinal Criminal Justice Academy. Off duty, Lt. Schwarzer enjoys backpacking, marathon running, and working at the local Boy Scout reservation.  

 

The Field Services Burea consists of Patrol Operations, Canine, Bicycle Patrol, Emergency Response Team, Animal Control, School Crossing Guard, and Parking Enforcement.  Each Division is headed by a supervisor, who works directly under the supervision of Lieutenant Schwarzer. 

 

All internal investigations are handled with the strictest of confidence directly by Lieutenant Schwarzer.  These investigations may include complaints against police personnel.  All complaints are considered serious and are thoroughly investigated.  In order for an internal investigation to begin a complaint form must be completed and filed with Lieutenant Schwarzer.  The form can be downloaded and brought to the Police Department or may be mailed in.
