The Radford Commissioner of the Revenue Office is a Constitutional Office staffed by the Commissioner of the Revenue, Cathy Flinchum, an elected official, and two deputies. The duties of the office are mandated by state law and local ordinance.
The elected position of Commissioner of the Revenue was created in the Virginia Constitution to establish and protect the independent status of the office and to ensure that local tax revenues will be assessed by an officer who reports directly to the people.
